• 2013-2014 Wind Ensemble Auditions

    All Instruments:

    • Chromatic Scale as listed on audition material or as much of that as you can play well.
    • 12 major scales
    • Etude as listed below specific to each instrument
    • Sight reading

      Flute – Track 4
      Oboe – Track 5
      Bassoon – Track 4
      Clarinet – Track 2, start in measure 5
      Bass Clarinet – Track 2 & Track 4 bottom part no repeat
      Saxophone – Track 2, starting in measure 3 of first line
      Horn – Track 6
      Trumpet – Track 2 & Track 3
      Trombone – Track 3, top line
      Euphonium – Track 3
      Tuba – Track 4
      Bass - see directors for etude.
      Percussion - pick two of the three instruments to audition on. Snare, timpani, and/or marimba.
      Play the etudes on the PDF that correspond to the instruments you are audtioning on. Percussionists must also perform a full range chromatic scale, 12 major scales, and sight read.

  • District Honor Band Information
    The All District Honor Band Auditions will be held on October 15 at one of the high schools in the district. There is a $5 audition fee. The live auditions consist of a full range chormatic scale, one etude from the All-State Honor Band Audition material and sight reading. The etude required for the audition will be selected and announced in mid-September.

Audition recordings for the All-State Honor Band are due the end of September. Please see the directors to schedule a recording session for you audition. It is recommended that you practice these etudes over the summmer so you are well prepared to make your recording. All State results are typically announced in November/December and the event occurs in Yakima in February 2014..
